Given:

Vertex = (0,0)

Focus = (-3,0)

From the formula:

4p (x-h) = (y-k) ^2

where p=3

substitute p=3 to the equation:

4 (3) (x-0) = (y-0) ^2

x^2=-12y

x=-y^2/12
