You order an appetizer for $8.99, 2 entrees for $9.99 each, and a dessert for $5.49. The sales tax is 4% and you leave a 15% tip based on the bill with sales tax. What is your total cost of your restaurant outing?

    1.04 (8.99 + 2 (9.99) + 5.49)

    1.04 (34.46) =

    35.8384 rounds to 35.84 ... this is the bill with the sale tax ... no tip

    and we are leaving a 15% tip

    35.84 * 1.15 = 41.216 rounds to 41.22 < = = total cost

    4% of 34.46 is 1.3784

    15% of 34.46 is 5.169

    1.3784 + 5.169 = 6.5475
