A recipe for banana bread requires 3 cups of bananas for every 1 1/2 cups of sugar used. At this rate, how many cups of sugar should be used if 2 cups of bananas are used

    The proportion will be

    3 cups banana/1.5 cups sugar=2 cups banana / x cups sugar.

    How do you make 3 into a 2? You divide on a calculator which will get you 1.5. So what you do on top you do to the bottom as well.

    Since 2*1.5=3, you have to multiply 1.5 by 1.5 which will get you 2.25. if you want it in fraction form it will be 2 1/4.

    2 1/4 cups of sugar.
