Which simpler problems could be calculated to solve this problem? Three people went to lunch and agreed to share the cost equally. George's meal cost $6.75, David's meal cost $4.25, and Liz's meal cost $5.50. They agreed to leave an 18% tip. How much did each person pay?

    The total meal costs = $6.75+$4.25+$5.50 = $16.5

    The tip amounted to 16.5 x 18%=16.5 x 0.18 = $2.97

    Total amount spent $16.5+$2.97 = $19.47

    Since they want to share equally let's find the average = 19.47/3

    Each one will pay $6.49
