Suppose you are decorating 2 frames with yarn you want the pieces of yarn to be the exact same size. Which 2 pieces of yarn should you use? 3/4, 1/8, 6/8 or 1/4.

    3/4 and 6/8

    You need to multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number, in this case

    3 2 6

    - * - = -

    4 2 8

    First you have to simplify every fraction. Only 6/8 isn't simplified. Find a common factor to both the top and bottom, in this case 2. Divide the top and bottom by 2 in order to get 3/4. From this you can see that 3/4 and 6/8 are the same because 6/8 simplifies to 3/4
