X + 2y = 8
x = - 2y + 8
5x - 4y = 19
5 (-2y + 8) - 4y = 19
-10y + 40 - 4y = 19
-14y = - 21
y = - 21/-14
y = 3/2
x + 2 (3/2) = 8
x + 3 = 8
x = 5
Answer: x = 5
y = 3/2
