Julie and Jim live 230 miles apart. At the same time, they start driving toward each other on the same road. Julie's constant rate is 60 mph and Jim's constant speed is 55 mph. How many hours will it take them to meet?

    After 2 hours.

    Distance = v. t

    Distance (July) = 60x t

    Distance (Jim) = 55 x t

    D (July) = D & D (Jim) = 230-D

    Hence:

    230=60t + 55t

    And t=2 hrs
