Each car in a rental fleet is either red or white, and there are 75 cars total. There are three more white than twice the number of red cars. How many cars are white?

    Number of red cars = x

    Number of white cars = y

    x + y = 75

    y + 3 = 2x

    x + y = 75

    y = 75 - x

    (75 - x) + 3 = 2x

    78 = 3x

    26 = x

    y + 3 = 2 (26)

    y + 3 = 52

    y = 49

    There are 49 white cars.
