Arnold won 24 gold and silver medals in track. he won twice as many gold medals as silver. if g represents the number of gold medals and s represents the number of silver medals, which system of equations represents the situation?

    The two variables you have are g and s which can derive simultaneous equations g = 2s and 24 = g + s You substitute g in the second equation and solve for s 24 = 2s + s 24 = 3s s = 8 Then substitute s in the original equation to get g g = 2 x 8 g = 16
