2/6+1/6=3/6 = 1/2 or 0.5

1/3 + 1/6 = 1/2 because the common denominator is 6 and so 1/3 = 2/6 and 1/6 = 1/6 add 2/6 to 1/6 and get 3/6 and simplify and get 1/2
