A hanging light cover made of glass is shaped like a square pyramid. The cover does not have a bottom. One square foot of the glass weighs 2.45 pounds. The chain can support 35 pounds. Will the chain support the light cover

    For this item, all we have to identify is the area of the hanging light cover. Because it is said that it does not have a cover, we are only concerned about the lateral area which is equal to

    Lateral area = 4 (x) (l) / 2 = 2xl

    where x is the measure of the side of the square base and l is the length of the slant height.

    After calculating the area in square foot, we multiply this to 2.45 pounds/ft², if the obtained value is ≤ 35 then, the chain can support the light cover.
