First you have to change the denominators to the same number because when you add or subtract you find the same denominator. In this case it's 100. So 4/10 you would multiply by the giant one which is 10. 4/10*10/10=40/100. So now you have to add 40/100+55/100=95/100. Lastly you see if you need to simplify. Which = to 19/20. Because you divide 5.
