    Amount of sodium in a hot dog = 860 mg.

    Amount of sodium in a cup of cottage cheese = 1000 mg.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the amount of sodium in a hot dog be x mg and the amount in a cup of cottage cheese be y mg.

    2x + 3y = 4720

    5x + 2y = 6300

    Multiply the first equation by 2 and the second by 3. We get:

    4x + 6y = 9440 (a)

    15x + 6y = 18900 (b)

    Subtract: (b) - (a):

    11x = 9460

    x = 9460 / 11 = 860 mg.

    To find we we substitute x = 860 in the first original equation:

    2 (860) + 3y = 4720

    3y = 3000

    y = 1000 mg.
