A perfect square is when 2 of the same numbers times each other and make a number. For instance, 2 and 2 makes 4, so 4 is a perfect square.
Heres another example, 8 and 8 make 64, so 64 is a perfect square.
In this case, 36 = 6 * 6; making it a perfect square!
