Find the area of a regular hexagon with apothem of 17.3 miles long and a side length of 20 miles long.

    First, find the area of one of the equilateral triangles that make up the hexagon. The formula for area of a triangle is bh/2, so make the expression (20*17.3) / 2, which when simplified is 173. Then multiply that by six (one for each triangle in the hexagon) so you have the final area: 1,038.
