A recipe for peanut butter requires 12 pounds of butter and 10 pounds of peanuts. a pound of peanuts costs four times as much as a pound of butter. if the total cost of the batch of peanut butter is $91, how much does one pound of butter cost?

    Let a pound of butter cost $x

    butter = x

    peanut = 4x

    12x + 10 (4x) = 91

    12x + 40x = 91

    52x = 91

    x = $1.75

    x = $1.75

    One pound of butter cost $1.75
