A hot air ballon is rising to its cruising altitude. Suppose the air temperature around the ballon drops 4 degrees each time the ballon increases its altitude by 1,000 feet. What is the net change in the air temperature around the ballon as it rises from 6,000 feet to 14,000 feet

    There are 8 1,000 altitude increases. So 8 times 4 is 32 degrees. The net change is - 32 degrees.
