Every 1/4 mile it places a sign.

So we need to find out how many 1/4 mile there is in the total 2 miles.

To know that: We carry out 2 divide 1/4

    2 / (1/4)

    2 * 4/1

    = 8

So there are eight (8), 1/4 miles on the 2 miles of road.

    8

    Hope this explains it.

They would use 8 signs because one mile in this case is broken up into quarters so in a mile it would have 1/4 1/2 3/4 and 1 mile times that by two because they are placing signs for 2 miles so 4+4 = 8
