    Let the number of smaller pages be x and that of larger pages be (16-x)

    Total number of words in the smaller pages will be:

    x*1200=1200x

    Total number of words in the large pages will be:

    1500 (16-x) = 24000-1500x

    the total number of words will be:

    24000-1500x+1200x=21000

    -300x=-3000

    x=-3000/-300

    x=10

    the number of small pages was 10 and the number of large pages was 16-10=6 pages.
