If the intercepts of a line are (a, 0) and (0, b), what is the slope of the line?

    0
    Generally gradient = (Y2-Y1) / (X2-x1)

    from the above

    y2 = b

    y1=0

    x2=0

    x1=a

    so gradient = (b-0) / (0-a) = b/-a = - b/a
