    From the details in the dimensions we can infer that the can is a cylinder.

    To find the surface area of a cylinder, use the following equation:

    Surface area = 2πrh+2πr^2

    This basically means (2 times pi times radius times height) plus (2 times pi times (radius to the power of 2)).

    First, you need to find the radius.

    Radius is equal to half the diameter, so in this case, the radius equals 4.5

    Filling in the equation:

    2π (4.5) (16) + 2π (4.5) ^2

    Solving the equation:

    2π = ~6.28

    6.28•4.5 = 28.26

    28.26•16 = 452.16

    Following order of operations, you must first solve the exponents.

    4.5^2 = 20.25

    6.28 (which is 2π) •20.25 = 127.17

    Now just add!

    452.16 + 127.17 = 579.33

    So the surface area of the juice can is 579.33 cubic centimeters.

    Now for the volume!

    Formula to find volume of a cylinder:

    πr^2h

    Fill in the formula:

    3.14 (4.5^2) (16)

    Solve:

    4.5^2 = 20.25

    3.14•20.25 = 63.585

    63.585•16 = 1017.36

    That means the volume of the juice can is 1017.36 cubic centimeters.

    So the final answer is:

    The surface area of the juice can is 579.33 cubic centimeters and the volume is 1017.36 cubic centimeters.

    The juice can will be a cylinder

    h=16cm

    d=9cm

    so r=9/2cm

    volume of can=pie*r^2*h

    =22/7*9/2*9/2*16

    =7128/7

    =1018.28 cm^3

    Area of sheet required to make it is csa of cylinder+2*area of base of cylinder

    =2pie*r*h+2*pie*r^2

    =2*22/7*9/2*16 + 2*22/7*9/2*9/2

    =3168/7+891/7

    =4059/7

    =579.85cm^2
