A plane intersects a three-dimensional figure and is parallel to its base. If the intersection is a circle, which three-dimensional figure is intersected by the plane?

    The cross section is a circle. Imagine stacking a bunch of circles, or rings, on top of each other. What would form is a cylinder.

    Answer: Cylinder

    Note: A sphere also would have a circular cross section but it doesn't have a base.
