    3x-2y = 16 Isolate "y"

    -2y = - 3x + 16 Simplify

    y = 3x/2 - 8

    You want to get "y" by itself

    Subtract 3x

    -2y=-3x+16

    Divide by - 2

    y=-3/2x-8
