Yasmine has 4 containers of 4 different colors of flowers to plant. She had 1/3 of each color left over when she was done planting. Yasmine said she had planted more than 2 1/2 of the original 4 containers. Use what you know about fractions to determine the total amount of containers of flowers she planted.

    Total container = 4 containers of 4 different flowers

    Total left = 1/3 of each, i. e,

    Total left = 1/3 x 4 = 4/3 of the original containers

    Total planted = (1 - 1/3) x 4 = 2/3 x 4 = 8/3 of the original containers

    8/3 = 2 2/3 = 2.67

    She claims she planted more than 2 1/2 of the of the original containers which is right,

    2 1/2 = 2.5
