If a person can complete a job in 8 hours and his/her friend needs 6 hours to do the same job, what portion of the job would the tow of them complete by working together

for two hours?

    Answer: Two people working together can do the job in 6 hr, so their combined speed is 1/6 of the job per hour. So, the second person takes 24 hr to do the job.
