the length of a playground is 40 yards and the width of the playground is 30 yatds. tanya is going to run around the sides of the playground to get to the opposite corner. maria is gping to run across the diagonal of the playground. who will run firther?

    The pythagorean theorem is that on a right triangle, the square root of the two legs equal the hypotenuse

    40^2 + 70^2 = c^2

    6500=c^2

    square root both sides

    and roughly c = 80.6 yards so maria runs more

    (Im not sure it is a right angle though?)
