Joe weighs 20 lbs. less than three times Jeff's weight. If Jeff would gain 10 lbs., then together they would weight 250lbs. How much does each weight?

    X=joe y=jeff

    250-10=x+y. x=3y-20. 240 = (3y-20) + y. 260=4y.

    y=65. x=3 (65) - 20. x=175. So Joe is 175lbs. and Jeff is 65lbs.
