Farmer Freddy keeps his cows and ducks in the barn. If there are 13 animals in the barn, and altogether they have 34 legs, how many cows and how many ducks does he have? Show you work and explain.

    Answer: There are 4 cows and 9 ducks

    The first thing you would want to do is realize that cows have four legs and ducks have two. Secondly, you want to guess and check. So my answer is 4 cows and 9 ducks. This can also be proved because four cows times the cow's four legs is sixteen. And nine times the chickens's two legs is eighteen. So if you add 18+16 you get 34.
