The perimeter of a garden is 48 meters. The length is 14 meters, and the width is w. Which value of w makes the equation 48 = 2 (14) + 2w true?

    2 (14) + 2w=48 divide both sides by 2

    14+w=24 subtract 14 from both sides

    w=10

    So the width is 10 meters.
