There are 4 romantic novels and 6 adventurous novels on a book shelf. Without looking, Carmen chooses two novels out of the shelf. What is the probability that she chooses 2 romantic novels?

    The probability of choosing one romantic novel out of ten possible books is 4/10.

    After that, one book is taken out of both the pile so the number of options decrease to 3/9 being romance novels.

    Thus, you must multiply those two ratios to get an answer of 12/90.
