A ball is thrown into the air with an upward velocity of 24 ftys. Its height h in feet after t seconds is given by the function h - 16t2 24t + 7

a. In how many seconds does the ball reach its maximum height? Round to the nearest hundredth if necessary.

b. What is the ball's maximum height?

    The maximum of this parabola is (3/4,16).

    Therefore since time is on the x-axis, the ball reaches the maximum height at 3/4secs.

    And since the height is on the y-axis, the ball will each a maximum height of 16ft.
