    The surface area of the portion of the cabinet that Miguel is going to paint is: 40 square feet

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given:

    6 feet lenght 4 feet wide 2 feet height

    As we know, the surface area of the a rectangular prism

    SA = 2 (lw + lh + wh)

    SA = (2lh + wh) This except the top and the bottom areas

    SA = (2*6*2 + 4*2)

    SA=40 square feet

    Hence, the surface area of the portion of the cabinet that Miguel is going to paint is: 40 square feet
