Commission earned from selling 9 phones and 30 accessories is $ 156

The money earned from selling p phones and a accessories is (9p + 2.5a) dollars

    Solution:

Liam earns a $9 commission for every phone he sells and a $2.50 commission for every accessory he sells

He sells 9 phones and 30 accessories

    To find: commission earned

    commission earned = 9 phones x $ 9 + 30 accessories x $ 2.50

    commission earned = 81 + 75 = 156

Thus commission earned from selling 9 phones and 30 accessories is $ 156

How much money would Liam make in commission if he sells p phones and a accessories?

Let us denote the number of phones sold as 'p' and number of accessories sold as 'a'

Then commission earned is given as:

    commission earned = "p" phones x $ 9 + "a" accessories x $ 2.50

    commission earned = 9p + 2.5a

Thus money earned from selling p phones and a accessories is (9p + 2.5a) dollars
