    5mph time = 0.8h

    8mph time = 0.5h

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Lets assume that 5mph time is x and 8mph time is y

    Then

    x + y = 1.3h

    5x + 8y = 8

    x = 1.3 - y

    5 (1.3 - y) + 8y = 8

    6.5 - 5y + 8y = 8

    3y = 8 - 6.5

    y = 0.5

    x = 1.3 - 0.5 = 0.8
