Brittany says that to determine the distance between 180 and 34, you can just subtract 180 - 34.

will subtracting the two numbers without determining the absolute value of their difference always work? Can you give me an example to support your answer.

    No because there will be a time when you need to determine the absolute value for instance: Absolute values are often used in problems involving distance and are sometimes used with inequalities
