    You divide by three to figure out how much a third of the coat is, 123/3 = 41.

    Knowing that this is 1/3, you just knock it off the original price. $123 - 41 = $82

    a coat costing $123 marked 1/3 off (not as 1/3 of the price) would have a sale price of $82
