    A. Mr. Tom needs 2 pounds of cheese.

    1/4 multiplied by 8

    b. Mr. Tom will need to buy 3/4 of a pound of cheese.

    1/4 multiplied by 3

    c. Mr. Tom is correct because to get 1/2 of a sandwich you need 1/2 as much of cheese as needed in 1 whole sandwich. You would multiply 1/2 by 1/4 which equals 1/8. 1/2 of a sandwich requires 1/8 of a pound of cheese.
