A person travels to a destination at a rate of 50m/h and returns the next day at a rate of 40m/h. If the time returning is 1hour more than the time going, how many miles are traveled in all?

    the time returning=x h,

    the time going = (x-1) h,

    s=t*v

    s = (x-1) * 50,

    s=x*40,

    (x-1) * 50=x*40

    x=5h,

    s=t*v=5*50=250 miles
