A highly selective boarding school will only admit students who place at least 2.5 2.5 standard deviations above the mean on a standardized test that has a mean of 100 100 and a standard deviation of 24 24. what is the minimum score that an applicant must make on the test to be accepted?

    160 Since we've been given the standard deviation and that only those that are 2.5 standard deviations above the mean, the minimum score is mean + 2.5 * standard_deviation = 100 + 2.5 * 24 = 100 + 60 = 160
