The box is a square. It's perimeter is 48 inches. The pizza has a circumference of 37.68 inches. What is the difference in the area of the pizza and the area of the pizza box? Round to the nearest tenth

    area of box:

    48/4 = 12

    12^2 = 144 square inches

    area of pizza:

    area = C^2/4π

    37.68^2 = 1419.7824/12.56 = 113.04 square inches

    difference : 144 - 113.04 = 30.96 inches, rounded to nearest tenth = 31.0 inches
