    Given:

    Sales discount = 25%

Original price of 4 Graduated cylinder = $8

Original price of 6 graduated cylinder = $9.50

    8 x 25% = 2 value of sales discount

    2 x 4 = 8 sales discount on 4 cylinders.

    9.50 x 25% = 2.38 value of sales discount

    2.38 x 6 = 14.28 sales discount on 6 cylinders

    a) 8 + 14.28 = $22.28 savings of Mrs. Delmar

    b) 100% - 25% = 75% of the original price will be paid by Mrs. Delmar

    c) 4 cylinders = 8 x 75% = 6 x 4 = 24

    6 cylinders = 9.50 x 75% = 7.13 x 6 = 42.78

    total cost of cylinders = 24 + 42.78 = 66.78

    sales tax = 66.78 x 4% = 2.67

    Total payment = 66.78 + 2.67 = $69.45 Mrs. Delmar's total cost
