A boy purchased (bought) a party length sandwich 53 in. long he wants to cut into three pieces so that the middle piece is 5 in. longer than the shortest piece and the shortest piece is 9 in. shorter than the longest piece. how long should the three pieces be?

    Shortest piece as 9 inches, the piece is 5inches longer so14 inches. 53 inches - 14 inches = 23 inches.
