Lorenzo went to the store with 20$. He bought some cans of soup for 2$ each and a gallon of milk for 3$. He had 1$ left over.

This equation gives s, the number of cans of soup that he bought.

2s + 3 = 20 - 1

How many cans of soup did Lorenzo buy?

    2s = 16
