    f (x) = 5x - 6

    g (x) = x² - 5x + 6

    (f + g) (x) = f (x) + g (x)

    = 5x - 6 + x² - 5x + 6

    = x² + 5x - 5x + 6 - 6

    = x² + 0 + 0

    = x²
