What is the first step in solving this system of equations by elimination? 2x - 2y = 5 5x + 2y = 9 A. Subtract the two equations. B. Add the two equations. C. Solve for y. D. Multiply each equation by 2

    Personally, I think none of these are the correct first step since both equations would have different first steps, but lets go ahead and see which one is the most possible answer. C cannot be the answer since solving for y would be the last step and can only be completed if y was the only variable; A cannot be the answer since you can only subtract the 9 and 5, but that would offset the balance of the equation; B cannot be the answer for pretty much the same reason that A can't, so that leaves D as the only possible answer.
