Answer: to approximate square roots, find the two perfect squares that are closest to it. For example, if your square was the square root of 55, then put it on a number line between the square root of 49 and the square root of 64, which is between 7 and 8. Then, see how many numbers are between the desired square root and the perfect squares. For example, 49 is 6 away from 55, and 64 is 11 away from 55. Then, estimate the square root. For example, the square root of 55 might be 7.3 or 7.4
