    a. Probability = 1/12

    b. Dependent events

    Step-by-step explanation:

    a. The chances of Mr Douglas eating two slices of cheese pizza is given by;

    There are;

    Pepperoni pizza = 5

    Sausage pizza = 1

    cheese pizza = 3

    Probability of first selecting cheese pizza = 3 / (5 + 1 + 3) = 3/9 = 1/3

    After the cheese pizza is selected without replacement, probability of selecting a second cheese pizza = 2 / (5 + 1 + 2) = 2/8 = 1/4

    Therefore, the probability of eating two cheese pizzas = 1/3 * 1/4 = 1/12

    b. The events are dependent because the outcome of first eating a cheese pizza affects the probability of eating a second cheese pizza.
