Mick paid $2.94 in the sale tax on an item that cost $24.00 before tax. At that rate how much would he pay in sale tax for an item that costs 58.00 before tax

    You could do this with a simple proportion.

    24/2.94 = 58/x

    x = 2.94 * 58/24

    x = 7.11
