Two sides of a triangle have lengths 8 and 17. Which inequalities represent the possible lengths for the third side, x?

9 < x < 17

9 < x < 8

8 < x < 17

9 < x < 25

    The answer would be 9< x< 25 because it has to accomplish 3 aspects: 1) No side can be greater than the sum of the other two, 2) It can not be more than 8+17 = 25 and 3) It can not be less than 17-8 = 9
