Two locomotives approach each other on parallel tracks. Each has a speed of 87 km/hr with respect to the ground. If they are initially 27 km apart, how long (in minutes) will it be before they reach each other?

    if both travel at same speed they will take equal distance and time to reach the middle and collide.

    hence, 27/2 = 13.5km

    speed=distance/time

    time = distance/speed

    time = 13.5/87 = 0.15517mm hr

    0.15517*60 = 9.31minutes
